Package 01
Letter to the Editor (LTE)
A letter to the editor is the shortest route into academic publishing, and for most students it is the right first step. You respond to a paper that has already been published, add something the authors missed, and learn how the machinery of a journal actually works, all within a short, focused piece of writing.
Most students graduate without ever submitting anything to a journal. Not because the work is beyond them, but because nobody showed them the first move. This course is that first move.
Over one month you will learn how to find and read papers properly, how to spot the gap worth writing about, and how to structure a short, publishable response. You write it. We review it with you until it is ready to submit.
What you will learn
- Introduction to research and academic literature
- How to search and navigate databases (PubMed, Google Scholar)
- Reading and understanding research papers
- Basic manuscript structure and writing
- Reference management basics (Zotero)
- How to identify a research gap and write short communications
What you walk away with: A finished letter to the editor, ready for submission, and a working understanding of how literature searching and reference management actually work.
